St. Albert Schools Are Growing
Updated: 6 days ago
St. Albert Public Schools serves more than 9,800 students, with enrolment up roughly 42% to 43% since 2012 and growing at about 3% annually. This steady and steep growing curve means that St. Albert Public Schools need strong leadership. I see being a part of this school division as a spectacular opportunity to be part of the thoughtful expansion of a school system that holds every child's experience with great care and attention.
Key Growth & Infrastructure Highlights for the 2026–27 School Year
Enrolment Numbers: The division continues to expand past 9,800 students, with every grade cohort showing steady growth driven by new family housing.
New Modular Classrooms: To handle fast-growing student numbers, the Alberta government allocated nine new modular classrooms to St. Albert Public Schools for 2026–27: one at Muriel Martin Elementary School, two at Joseph M. Demko Elementary/Junior High School, and six replacements at Wild Rose Elementary School.
New School Projects: The province approved design funding for a brand-new K–9 school in the Chérot neighbourhood, planned as a 1,000-student facility designed to keep pace with north-end development.
Sprouts Junior Kindergarten: The division launched the new Sprouts Junior Kindergarten pilot program in fall 2026 at Kinosayo Elementary School and Wild Rose Elementary School for three-to-five-year olds.
